I was inspired to do this today. “A Thank You to 21 Pilots for ‘Migraine'”

Hello,

After looking around the internet it seemed like this might be the best way to get a piece of grateful fan mail (essentially) to Tyler and Josh.

My name is Elizabeth Roberts-Zibbel  and I write and moderate for Migraine.com and blog at ladymigraine.com. I’m a leading advocate for the migraine community.

Our disease is stigmatized and rarely discussed without shame or dismissal. We have formed our own support communities online to share what no one else understands.

When “Migraine” was released, the gift we were given isn’t something that can even be quantified. It so perfectly encapsulates the pain and frustration and isolation and desperation we feel. And then in addition to all that, an undercurrent of hope: “we should take a day to break away from all the pain our brain has made this game is not played alone…”

They gave us, the chronically misunderstood and underestimated, an anthem. It is nearly anonymous across the community that “Migraine” has become our theme song and rallying cry. As I listened to it again this morning with tears streaming down my face, I felt inspired to reach out and thank them for speaking their pain (I actually don’t know which of them has migraine disease or if either of them does) which helps to decrease stigma; and also for presenting us with both security blanket and super hero cape for our darkest moments.

Because yeah, we’ve made it this far, kid. And the song makes us feel we can make it at least one more day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

From the bottom of my heart,
